Persepolis through to AFC CL West Region final [highlights]

522 Views The Red Army has advanced to the semi-finals of the 2017 AFC Champions League.

The Reds defeated Al Ahli (Saudi) 3-1 in Abu Dhabi’s Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium, and therefore the Tehran club has defeated the Saudi club 5-3 on aggregate.

In the fifth minute of action, Ali Alipour scored the opener for Persepolis, but just a few minutes later, Kamal Kamyabinia was ejected from the match, leaving The Reds down to ten men.

Saleh Al Jamaan scored the equalizer for Al Ahli in the 52nd minute and gave the home-team some hope.

In the dying moments of the match, Persepolis was awareded another penalty which Mehdi Taremi (90+4′) scored skillfully.

The Reds will now face another Saudi club: Al Hilal, in the final two legs of the West Region division of the AFC Champions League. The finals of each regional bracket are the same as the semi-finals of the whole tournament.

In the East Region, Shanghai SIPG (with world stars like Oscar, Hulk, and Ricardo Carvalho) will face the winner of Urawa Red Dioamonds vs Kawasaki Frontale.
