182 Views Syria was able to hold Iran to a goalless draw in Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Malaysia.

Rainy conditions delayed this match for 45 minutes, and destroyed the quality of the game, as the field looked more like a swamp than a football pitch.

The Syrians were able salvage a point by parking the bus and dropping and rolling on the grass several times.

Iran had a few decent chances, but The Cheetahs weren’t able to play at their regular pace, because of the terrible condition of the field.

With one point from this match, Iran is still first in Group A with 11 points; on March 23rd, 2017, The Iranians will host Qatar for their next World Cup Qualifiers (WCQ) match.

Elsewhere in Group A, Korea Republic defeated Uzbekistan 2-1, and China gained a point at home against Qatar.

In Group B: Japan defeated Saudi Arabia 2-1, Thailand drew Australia 2-2, and UAE defeated Iraq 1-0.
